Club History

The Boroughcoutas was founded in 1991 by a group of adult swimmers from the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, under the leadership of Barry (Doc) Eastoe, who was a member of Powerpoints Masters Swimming Club in Melbourne before moving to Pt Lonsdale.

Queenscliff Blue Water Challenge

On the Australia Day weekend, each year since 1993 we ran the Queenscliff Blue Water Challenge, an open water swim catering for around 550 swimmers of all age groups.
The Boroughcoutas handed over the commercial rights to the swim in September 2017 to LASS Pty Ltd.
The swim is now branded as the Queenscliff 180.
The club donated over $22,000 to local junior swimmers to help them compete at State and National events over the 25 year the club hosted the event. The courses take swimmers around the end of Queenscliff’s historic pier.
